Client Install: MSI Laptop with dock and dual screens for an Accounting Practice

We recently had the opportunity to install a tailored setup at one of our clients in their accounting practice, offering the perfect blend of performance, convenience, and mobility.

The Requirements

Our client was in search of a solution that offered the power and functionality to handle their demanding office tasks on cloud based apps and the flexibility to enable work from home (or anywhere with an internet connection) when needed without needing to work off a difference device and lose any local settings. 

Here is how we did it:

With our clients requirements in mind we recommended a lightweight and portable 14" MSI laptop powered by an Intel i7 processor, 16GB memory and a 512GB SSD Drive.  To extend the laptop's functionality in the office, we paired it with a Targus docking station, dual 24" AOC monitors and an external keyboard and mouse.  As you may have read in one of our previous blogs the improvement to productivity through the use of dual monitors is substantial.

Implementation 

Taking just over an hour onsite including the setup of user accounts our team ensured everything was up and running smoothly.

One of the benefits of the Targus docking station is that allows the monitors, keyboard and mouse along with any other USB devices to connect centrally to it and then the dock utilises a single cable to connect to the laptop to extend the display on the screen, join the keyboard and mouse and to also charge the laptop as well. 

We also took care of all the packaging, leaving the client with a clean and ready-to-use workstation.

Costs

The cost of this MSI laptop setup including installation in Brisbane was $2,851+GST, the full specs of the laptop setup as rolled out are outlined below:

 Outcome

A quick install and setup time meant that our client was ready to go in just over an hour, they were thrilled with the quick work and the result of the setup.

The AOC monitors feature IPS technology, a 75Hz refresh rate, low blue light emission, ultra-slim design, flicker-free technology, and Full HD 1080 resolution, offering excellent visual comfort and detail for extended use like hours staring at spreadsheets or Xero.

The Targus dock ensures seamless connectivity with the monitors, keyboard, and mouse. When it's time to work from home, our client can simply unplug a single cable from the laptop and take it with them.

The added bonus with using the Targus dock is that it allows you to keep the manufacturers power charger as a spare for use on the go, saving you the hassle of buying a second one for travel.
